The role of a maternity unit manager is to oversee the maternity RNs and Midwives that assist in labour and delivery as well as the care of newborns. They are generally not working in high risk situations as often as in the PICU or NICU, allowing more joy and reward in the role.

As with other Unit Manager positions, this role requires people, communication, and organisational skills. These UMs must facilitate a slick, efficient working environment within the relevant department.

If you are a registered midwife or RN with maternity experience and leadership skills then this is an exciting move up!

Applicants must have a formal qualification in general nursing and midwifery, with preference towards those with a postgraduate qualification in midwifery nursing science.
