Patience, experience, and a caretaker mentality is the key to success as an Aged Care Unit Manager.

It takes a special and experienced nurse to care for patients of a certain age. More mature Unit Manager and Registered Nurses may choose to move into this role to enjoy a calmer, slower paced working environment.

A successful candidate understands that they need to ensure their staff cares for their elderly patients like one’s own parent and grandparents. Communication skills are the key, as these teams must often communicate with not only their patients but their families as well.

Leadership skills and experience are equally important – the candidate must be able to take responsibility for the staffing, scheduling, and budgeting of the unit.

Mednurse works with Aged Care Unit Manager posts and other vacancies for UM and RN positions in private facilities throughout South Africa. If you’re based in Pretoria, the Garden Route or elsewhere we can help! Send us your CV to get started!
